About this course

MEng, BEng in Civil and Structural Engineering (Industrial), a civil engineering degree addressing infrastructure, structural design and environmental challenges. Core topics include Research Methods and Engineering Design. This five-year programme includes an industrial placement year and is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators. The first year covers foundational concepts through compulsory modules such as Architecture and Sustainability, Surveying, Construction Technology and Management, and Structural Analysis and Design. The second year continues with Water Engineering and Geotechnics, Engineering Mathematics and Modelling 2, and Integrated Design Project 2, alongside optional modules including Transport Planning and Modelling 1 and Sustainable Engineering Solutions. The third year builds upon this knowledge with Water Engineering and Geotechnics 2, Structural Design and Materials 2, and Individual Research Project 1, while offering options such as Wastewater Engineering and Computational Methods for Civil Engineering. The final fifth year features advanced study through Individual Research Project 2 and Integrated Design Project 4, with optional choices covering Design and Management of Structures in Earthquake Zones, Advanced Concrete Design – MEng, and Advanced Steel and Composite Design.
