About this course

MEng, BEng in Civil and Structural Engineering, a civil engineering degree focusing on structural analysis, materials, and infrastructure design. Core topics include Research Methods, Engineering Design. This degree is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators and features shared first-year studies across civil engineering routes. The first year covers core foundations through Architecture and Sustainability, Surveying, Construction Technology and Management, Structural Analysis and Design, and Materials, Water and Soils. The second year introduces compulsory modules such as Water Engineering and Geotechnics and Structural Design and Materials 1, alongside optional choices including Transport Planning and Modelling 1 and Sustainable Engineering Solutions. The third year advances into studies like Water Engineering and Geotechnics 2 and Structural Design and Materials 2, while incorporating an Individual Research Project 1. The fourth year concludes with advanced compulsory work including Individual Research Project 2 and Integrated Design Project 4, alongside optional modules such as Advanced Concrete Design – MEng and Geotechnical Engineering.
