About this course

BEng in Civil Engineering, a civil engineering degree centred on the planning, design and management of the built environment. Core topics include Engineering Design and Research Methods. This JBM-accredited course features a common first year shared across all civil engineering programmes, offering flexibility to transfer between courses. The first year covers foundational concepts through compulsory modules such as Architecture and Sustainability, Structural Analysis and Design, and Engineering Mathematics and Modelling 1. The second year progresses to subjects like Water Engineering and Geotechnics, Engineering Mathematics and Modelling 2, and Structural Design and Materials 1, alongside optional modules including Transport Planning and Modelling 1 and Sustainable Engineering Solutions. The final year focuses on advanced topics through compulsory modules such as Water Engineering and Geotechnics 2, Structural Design and Materials 2, and Individual Research Project 1. Optional modules in the final year allow students to explore areas like Computational Methods for Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, and Environmental Health Engineering in Developing Countries.
