About this course

BA in Classical Literature and English, an English Literature and Classics degree centred on the study of classical heritage alongside literature from various periods. Core topics include Research Methods. Students complete a final year project and may study historical archives and collections. The first year covers the foundations through Greek Poets, Roman Poets, Modern Fictions in English and Poetry: Reading and Interpretation. The second year progresses with Evidence and Enquiry in Classics, Virgil's Aeneid, Homer's Iliad and Medieval and Tudor Literature. The third year builds towards advanced study through modules such as Major Research Project, Final Year Project, Restoration and Eighteenth Century Writing and Shakespeare.
