Entry requirements
A level: AAA/A*AB (specific subject requirements) BTEC: BTEC qualifications in relevant disciplines are considered in combination with other qualifications, including grade A in A-level mathematics, or equivalent IB: 17 points at Higher Level including 6 in Higher Level Mathematics (Mathematics: Analytics and Approaches is preferred).
About this course
BSc in Economics and Mathematics, a mathematics and economics degree centred on quantitative and analytical methods. Core topics include Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, and Research Methods. Delivered jointly by the School of Mathematics and the Leeds University Business School, the course provides industrial placement opportunities and study abroad programmes. During the first year, students study compulsory foundations through Core Mathematics, Probability and Statistics, and Economic Theory and Applications. The second year continues with Intermediate Microeconomics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, and Optimisation, alongside optional modules covering topics such as financial mathematics and labour economics. The final year offers extensive optional modules across advanced economic theory and specialised mathematics, including options for a project in mathematics or an economics joint honours final year project.
