About this course

BA in English and Sociology, a degree spanning sociology and English literature. Core topics include Research Methods, Policy Analysis, and Social & Cultural Analysis. Students complete a final-year project. The first year introduces foundational themes through compulsory modules such as Reading Between the Lines, Literature, Culture and Critique, Formations of Coloniality and Modernity, and Making Sense of Society: Reading Social Theory. The second year builds core competencies with Writing Environments: Literature, Nature, Culture, Body Language: Literature and Embodiment, Central Problems in Sociology, and Sociology and Social Policy Research methods. Optional modules allow students to explore diverse areas such as Crime, Law and Regulation, Disability Studies: An Introduction, American Words, American Worlds, and The Sociology of Gender.
