About this course

BSc in Environmental Geoscience, an Earth and Environmental Sciences degree focused on the physical structure and workings of the planet's surface and shallow subsurface. Core topics include Research Methods, Fieldwork, and Project Management. The curriculum features a mandatory final-year project involving 3D geo-modelling with industry software. The first year covers core subjects through modules such as Solid Planet, Earth Surface Processes, Dynamic Planet, and Living Planet, alongside foundational geoscientist skills. The second year advances learning with Palaeoenvironmental Analysis, Investigating the shallow subsurface, Contaminated Environments, and GIS for Geoscientists. The final year includes compulsory study in Engineering Geology, Groundwater, and The Last Million Years. Optional modules allow specialisation in areas like Earth Observation from Space, Strategic Energy Issues, and Past Global Environmental Systems.
