About this course
BA in Fashion Design Innovation, a fashion design degree grounded in studio practice and technical methods. Core topics include Research Methods and Marketing. Students receive membership to the Association of Suppliers to the British Clothing Industry. The first year covers core practical methods through Fashion Essentials: Design, Materials and Production, Design Studies: Foundation, Creative Challenges and Communication, The Fashion Industry, and Introduction to Creative Textiles for Fashion, alongside optional modules such as Creative Thinking and Introduction to Photography. The second year progresses to advanced experimentation and theory via Fashion Experimentation: Challenges and Transformations, Design Studies: Exploration, Design for Interaction and Experience, 20th Century Fashion, and Fashion Management Issues & Strategies, with further study available in options like Digital Photography and Contemporary Illustration. The final year centres on independent practical work and strategic application through the Major Research Project and Fashion Design Innovation Project, complemented by optional subjects including Fashion Innovation Contexts: Product Realisation, Consumer Neuromarketing, and Collaborative Brand Management.
