About this course
BA in Fine Art with History of Art, a History of Art and Fine Art degree combining studio practice with historical analysis. Core topics include Historical Research and Research Methods. The course includes an optional Year in Industry placement and a Study Abroad programme. The first year introduces foundational studio work and historical methods through Introduction to Practice, Developing Practice, Art History as Practice, and From Art History’s Myths to Critical Art History. The second year advances independent studio investigations through Defining Your Practice and Practice into Public Contexts, alongside optional modules such as The Grand Tour: Travels, Excavations, Collections and Variant Modernism. The final year culminates in a major independent project and exhibition preparation through Practice towards exhibition and a Dissertation, complemented by optional studies in areas like Critical Approaches to Photography and Postcolonial Feminisms.
