A level: ABB (specific subject requirements) BTEC: We will consider the level 3 QCF BTEC at Subsidiary Diploma level and above in combination with other qualifications. Please contact the Admissions Office for more information. IB: 34 points overall with 16 at Higher Level.
About this course
BA in French, a French and Francophone Studies degree encompassing language acquisition alongside the study of cultural and social contexts. The four-year programme includes a year abroad spent in a French-speaking region. The first year introduces foundational themes through compulsory modules such as Writing the Self in French, Introduction to French Studies (Resistance and Desire), Introduction to Skills in French Translation, and Upper Intermediate French. Subsequent stages offer diverse optional modules covering topics such as translation, cinema, politics and literature, alongside advanced language study. The final year incorporates options including Advanced French Language Skills and a Final Year Project.
