About this course

BSc in Geography with Environmental Mathematics, a mathematics and geography degree focused on the intersection of earth systems and quantitative analysis. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Research Methods, and Project Management. Students undertake fieldwork in locations such as the European Alps, Mallorca, Portugal, and Tenerife. The first year introduces foundational subjects through modules like Planet Under Threat, Digital Geographies, Advanced Mathematics 1, and Advanced Mathematics 2. The second year continues with specialized studies including Career Skills in Geography, Advanced Mathematics 3, Digital Data Analysis, and Skills for Physical Geographers. The final year involves advanced study and independent research, featuring modules such as Testing mathematical models of river hydraulics with data from an experimental flume, Assessing the most important controls on upland wildfires using GIS, Understanding how different farming operations affect soil infiltration and flood response, and the Physical Geography Dissertation.
