A level: ABB (specific subject requirements) BTEC: We will consider the level 3 QCF BTEC at Subsidiary Diploma level and above in combination with other qualifications. Please contact the Admissions Office for more information. IB: 34 points overall with 16 at Higher Level.
About this course
BA in German, a German degree centred on language, literature, history and culture in the German-speaking world. Core topics include Design & Creative Practice. Students undertake a compulsory year abroad during the third year for full linguistic immersion. The first year offers flexible optional modules such as Beginners German (A1), 20th Century German History, and Worlds of Literature to establish foundational knowledge. The second year continues with options including German Language Skills in Context and Introduction to German Cinema. The third year consists of the LCS Year Abroad. The final year includes compulsory modules in Advanced German Language in Contemporary Discourses and a Final Year Project, alongside optional choices such as Advanced Translation from German into English, Contemporary German Cinema, and Transnational Feminism and Creative Practice.
