Entry requirements
A level: ABB (specific subject requirements) BTEC: BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (QCF): distinction/distinction/distinction and must contain at least one-third science content at distinction. Health and Social Care qualifications have insufficient science content and will only be considered with an additional accepted science qualification at level 3. All BTEC modules should be listed on your UCAS form or your application may be rejected. IB: 34 points overall, including 3 higher level subjects at minimum of grade 5, one of which must be a science subject
About this course
BSc in Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology), a cellular molecular degree centred on the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of heart disease. Core topics include Clinical Skills, Research Methods, and Ethics & Professional Practice. Students undertake clinical placements within departments across the Yorkshire and Humber region and complete a research project in the final year. The first year covers the foundations through Cardiovascular Science, ECG Interpretation, and Professional Practice for Healthcare. The second year focuses on clinical and investigative methods with Pathophysiology of Common Cardiovascular & Respiratory Conditions, Functional Cardiac Testing, and Cardiac Catheterisation. The final year involves advanced study and practice through Advanced Cardiac Principles and Clinical Practice 3, alongside a compulsory Research Project.
