About this course

BSc in Mathematics, a mathematics degree grounded in analytical and logical methods. Core topics include Statistics and Mathematical Modelling. This degree is accredited by the Royal Statistical Society, and students can transfer to the four-year integrated Masters degree at the end of the second year. The first year covers fundamental areas through Core Mathematics, Real Analysis, Computational Mathematics and Modelling, Introduction to Group Theory, Dynamics and Motion, and Probability and Statistics. The second year builds competence with modules such as Investigations in Mathematics, Further Linear Algebra and Discrete Mathematics, and Vector Calculus and Partial Differential Equations, alongside choices from named pathways including Pure and Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics and Statistics, and Applied Mathematics and Statistics. Optional modules in later stages allow specialisation in areas spanning pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics. The final year centres on a compulsory Project in Mathematics.
