About this course
BEng in Mechanical Engineering (Industrial), a mechanical engineering degree focused on machine design, production, and operation. Core topics include Engineering Design. This four-year course includes a paid industrial placement year and holds accreditation from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). The first year covers Computers in Engineering Analysis, Design and Manufacture 1, Thermofluids 1, and Solid Mechanics, alongside fundamental mathematics and materials. The second year progresses through Engineering Mechanics, Vibration and Control, Design and Manufacture 2, and Mechatronics and Measurement Systems. Year 4 involves advanced compulsory study including Additive Manufacturing, Computational Fluid and Structural Mechanics, Automotive Propulsion Systems, and Robotics and Machine Intelligence, culminating in the Individual Engineering Project.
