About this course
MEng, BEng in Mechanical Engineering (Industrial), a mechanical engineering degree centred on the design, production, and operation of machinery. Core topics include Engineering Design. This course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and includes an opportunity to undertake a paid industrial placement year. The first year covers foundational principles through compulsory modules such as Engineering Mathematics, Solid Mechanics, and Design and Manufacture 1. The second year progresses with compulsory studies in Engineering Mechanics, Thermofluids 2, and Design and Manufacture 2. The third year involves an Individual Engineering Project alongside compulsory modules such as Additive Manufacturing and Biomedical Engineering Design. The final year concludes with advanced studies including a Team project, Electric and Hybrid Drivetrain Engineering, and Design Optimisation.
