Entry requirements

A level: AAA (specific subject requirements) BTEC: We will consider the level 3 QCF BTEC at Subsidiary Diploma level and above in combination with other qualifications. Please contact the Admissions Office for more information. IB: 35 points overall including 17 at Higher Level. If you do not already meet our GCSE Maths requirements, we will also require 5 in Standard Level Maths or 4 in Higher Level Maths (we accept both Applications and Interpretation, and Analysis and Approaches). Where a post-A level language route is taken, 5 points at Higher Level in the relevant language is required. Where Chinese or Japanese is taken, a GCSE in any modern language is required. Where any other beginner language route is taken, previous experience in language is not required.

About this course

BA in Modern Languages and Economics, an economics and modern languages degree centred on theoretical and applied content alongside language acquisition. Students study the society and culture of countries where their chosen language is spoken, prepare for a residence abroad, and complete a Final Year Project in either economics or their chosen language. Students can choose from nine languages: Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Thai.
