About this course

BSc in Neuroscience, a biomedical science degree exploring the human body, brain and nervous system. Core topics include Research Methods. Students complete a capstone research project in the final year, and can optionally apply for a year in industry to graduate with an accredited industrial variant. The first year introduces core concepts through compulsory modules such as Structure and Function (Anatomy and Physiology) of Human Body Systems, The Basis of Life, and Introductory Concepts in Neuroscience and Pharmacology, alongside options in areas like genetics and psychology. The second year progresses to specialised study with compulsory modules including Experimental Skills in Neuroscience, Advanced Concepts in Neuroscience, and Sensory and Motor Neuroscience, complemented by options covering drug development and cell biology. The final year centres on advanced investigation via Research Skills and Professional Development and the Capstone Research Project. Students can tailor their studies further through optional modules focusing on neurophysiology, inherited disorders, and animal models in discovery biology.
