About this course
MBiol, BSc in Neuroscience, a biomedical science degree centred on the study of the human brain and nervous system. Core topics include Research Methods. Students complete a capstone research project and undertake an integrated masters year involving specialist training and advanced research. The first year covers foundational concepts through compulsory modules such as Structure and Function (Anatomy and Physiology) of Human Body Systems, The Basis of Life, and Introductory Concepts in Neuroscience and Pharmacology. The second year builds experimental and advanced understanding via modules including Experimental Skills in Neuroscience, Advanced Concepts in Neuroscience, and Sensory and Motor Neuroscience. The third year focuses on developing practical investigation abilities through modules such as Research Skills and Professional Development, Practical Research Skills, and Extended Research Project Preparation. The final year involves advanced study and independent investigation through compulsory components like Advanced Research Topics and Extended Research Project. Optional modules across the years allow students to explore related subjects such as Psychology for Healthy Minds, Medical Immunology, and Neurophysiology.
