Entry requirements
A level: BBC preferably including one of the following subjects: Applied Science, Biology, Chemistry, Human Biology, Physics, Psychology, or Sociology. General Studies and Critical Thinking are not accepted. BTEC: Extended Diploma: DDM in Health and Social Care or Applied Science. IB: Applicants must obtain 34 points overall, including 6,4,4 at higher level and at least one science-related subject.
About this course
BSc in Nursing (Mental Health), a nursing (mental health) degree centred on mental health nursing theory and clinical practice. Core topics include Research Methods. The curriculum integrates practical placement environments alongside campus simulation facilities including a community flat, intensive care unit and hospital ward. The first year introduces foundational principles through Nursing: Key Concepts of Health and Wellbeing, Mental Health Nursing: Applying the Key Concepts of Health and Wellbeing, and Nursing: Working in Partnership to Promote Health and Wellbeing. The second year focuses on quality care delivery and recovery facilitation via Nursing: Providing Quality Care, Mental Health Nursing: Health Promotion and Facilitation of Recovery Through Empathic Engagement, and Nursing: Promoting Health and Wellbeing in Challenging Situations. The final year involves complex care management and leadership development through Mental Health Nursing: Providing Complex Care, Nursing Leadership and Role Transition, and concludes with an independent Nursing: Dissertation.
