A level: AAA (specific subject requirements) BTEC: BTEC qualifications in relevant disciplines are considered in combination with A Level Physics and Mathematics. Applicants should contact the School to discuss. IB: 18 points at Higher Level to include 5 in Higher Level Physics and 5 in Higher Level Mathematics.

About this course

MPhys, BSc in Physics (Industrial), a physics degree exploring the fundamental laws of nature and industrial applications. Core topics include Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The course features an Institute of Physics (IOP) accreditation and includes a paid industrial placement year with partner organisations. The first year includes optional modules such as Introduction to Nanotechnology, Planets and the Search for Life, Artificial Intelligence for scientists, and Discovery modules. The second year provides optional modules in Experimental Physics with Extended Investigation, and Experimental Physics and Astrophysics. The fourth year includes the compulsory module Advanced Techniques in Experimental Physics, alongside optional choices such as Advanced Quantum Physics, Quantum Matter, Advanced Optics with Photonics, Magnetism and Ferroic Materials, Theoretical Elementary Particle Physics, Advanced Mechanics, Molecular Simulation with Machine Learning: Theory and Practice, Star and Planet Formation, Cosmology, Physics in Schools, Group Innovation Project, and Options from other schools.
