About this course
BSc in Physics with Astrophysics, a physics and physics with astrophysics degree focused on the study of the universe, astronomical systems, and physical laws. Core topics include Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. This Institute of Physics accredited course features access to a campus observatory for telescope training, alongside research collaboration opportunities with active astrophysicists during the final year. The second year focuses on observational techniques and measurement through Astrophysics and Experimental Skills. The third year encompasses compulsory studies in Cosmology, Star and Planet Formation, and a substantial independent Project. Optional modules in the final year allow students to explore diverse areas such as Advanced Quantum Physics, Quantum Matter, Advanced Optics with Photonics, Magnetism and Ferroic Materials, Theoretical Elementary Particle Physics, Advanced Mechanics, Molecular Simulation with Machine Learning: Theory and Practice, Physics in Schools, and Group Innovation Project.
