A level: ABB. BTEC: Extended Diploma: DDD IB: Applicants must obtain 34 points overall (16 points at higher level), including 3 subjects at higher level at a minimum of a grade 5.
About this course
BA in Social Work, a social work degree centred on professional training and statutory frameworks within the social care sector. Core topics include Ethics & Professional Practice. Students undertake assessed practice placements across both adult and child and family settings as part of the curriculum. The first year covers core foundations through Professional Practice 1, Social Justice and Social Work, Social Work Theory and Practice Across the Life Course, Social Work Law, and Decision Making in Social Work. The second year progresses into specialised areas with Professional Practice 2, Research for Social Work Practice, Social Work with Adults (including Mental Health), Social Work with Children and Families, and Ethical Dilemmas and Critical Reflection in Practice. The final year focuses on preparation for employment and independent study through Professional Practice 3, Social Work and Technology, Transition into Qualified Practice, and a Capstone Final Project.
