A level: ABB (specific subject requirements) BTEC: We will consider the level 3 QCF BTEC at Subsidiary Diploma level and above in combination with other qualifications. Please contact the Admissions Office for more information. IB: 34 points overall with 16 at Higher Level including 5 in Higher Level Spanish.
About this course
BA in Spanish, a Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies degree centred on the language, culture, and history of Spain, Latin America, and Spanish-speaking regions across Africa. Students spend the third year on an international placement in a Spanish-speaking country. The fourth year includes an independent research project and advanced language study. The first year establishes core foundations through modules such as Upper Intermediate Spanish (B2) and Researching Spanish and Latin American Studies. The second year builds proficiency with Practical Language Skills in Spanish 2 alongside optional choices spanning global politics, cinema, and translation theory. During the third year, students undertake the LCS Year Abroad. The final year involves advanced study featuring Practical Language Skills in Spanish and the Final Year Project, alongside options including Spanish-English Translation, Decolonial Approaches, and Catalan Language and Culture III.
