About this course

BEng (Hons) in Architectural Engineering, a civil engineering degree focusing on the intersection of structural design, building physics, and environmental systems. Core topics include Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Research Methods, Engineering Design, Ethics & Professional Practice, and Design & Creative Practice. Students can choose between a three-year full-time path and a four-year structure incorporating a professional placement year. The first year introduces foundational principles through Structural Forms and Stress Analysis, Mathematical Modelling of Structures, Engineering Materials for Construction, and Design Skills for Architectural Engineers. The second year progresses into specialized concepts with Soil Mechanics and Geology, Analysis & Design of Steel and Timber Structures, Design of Concrete and Masonry Structures, and Integrated Design Project 1. The third year advances professional knowledge via Contracts and Law in Architectural Engineering, Control, Modelling and Simulation, Mechanical and Electrical Systems, and Integrated Design Project 2 alongside a Research Dissertation.
