About this course

BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences, a biological sciences degree centred on the fundamental mechanisms underlying human life and health. Core topics include Data Analysis, Statistics, Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, Clinical Skills, and Critical & Analytical Thinking. Students can choose between a three-year full-time route or a four-year full-time route that includes a professional placement year. The first year covers the foundations through Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Human Evolution and Adaptation, Laboratory Skills 1, Genetics and Molecular Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Academic Skills and Data Description. The second year advances practical and theoretical knowledge via Cellular Signalling and Transport, Research Methods: Data Analysis, Laboratory Skills II, Genomics, and Growth Development and Ageing, alongside optional choices such as Interdisciplinary Science and Pharmaceutical and Clinical Science. The final year centres on a compulsory Project, while optional modules span Public and Global Health, Applied Genomics, Regenerative Medicine, Cancer Biology, and other specialized subjects.
