About this course

BSc (Hons) in Chemistry with Computing, a degree spanning the subjects of chemistry and computer science. Core topics include Programming, Laboratory Techniques, and Communication & Writing. Students can undertake this course either over four years full-time with a placement year or three years full-time. The first year covers core foundations through modules such as Laboratory and Computer Skills 1, Fundamentals of Physical Chemistry, and Fundamental Synthetic Chemistry, introducing basic laboratory techniques and mathematical concepts. The second year progresses with Laboratory and Computer Skills 2, Structural Characterisation, Spectroscopy and Analysis, and Thermodynamics, Kinetics and Quanta alongside dedicated computing training. The third year concludes the programme with Investigative Computational Projects, Data, Algorithms and Numerical Optimisation, Modern Aspects of Organic Chemistry, and Science Communication.
