About this course
BEng (Hons) in Computer and Electronic Engineering, an electrical and electronic engineering degree focused on computer architecture, microprocessors, and embedded software systems. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Circuit Design, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, Microelectronics, Control Systems, Mathematical Modelling, and Project Management. The course includes an optional placement year and offers two entry routes, with options available for high-performing students to transfer between degree paths. The first year establishes core knowledge through modules such as Core Mathematics, Circuit Analysis, Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering, Programming and Software Engineering, Digital Systems, and Applied Engineering. The second year progresses to Advanced Mathematics, Electronics, Embedded Systems Programming, Computer Architecture, Telecommunications Engineering, and Project Design and Management. The final year includes compulsory modules in Engineering Systems and Management and an Individual Project. Students can also select from optional modules such as Embedded Software Design and Implementation, State Control Systems, Wireless Communications, Electronic Systems Design, Computer Networks and Security, and Machine Learning for IoT Systems.
