About this course
BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, a computer science and computer science (artificial intelligence) degree centred on modern computational theory and intelligent systems. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Computer Architecture, Project Management, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Ethics & Professional Practice, Entrepreneurship, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The British Computer Society (BCS) accredits the degree, which includes an optional professional placement year. The first year covers the foundations through Introduction to Programming and Databases, Computer Systems and Low-level Programming, Operating Systems, Networks, Security, and Foundations of Artificial Intelligence. The second year advances into Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Professional Training Preparation, Team Projects, and Software Engineering: Practices and Principles. In the final year, students complete a mandatory AI Project alongside compulsory modules such as Agent-Based Systems, Robotics, Advanced Artificial Intelligence Systems, and Computer Vision. Optional modules allow students to explore topics including Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, Algorithm Analysis, Cloud Computing, Human-Computer Interaction, Advanced Networking, Distributed Systems, Computer Animation, Cyber Risk Management, Human Factors and Cyber Security, Project Management, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Planning, Data Mining and Machine Learning, Cryptography and Network Security, Studies in Science and Mathematics Education, Digital Forensics, and Applied Cryptography.
