About this course

BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and Cyber Security, a computer science and software engineering degree focused on technical protection, software development, and modern computing systems. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Computer Architecture, Project Management, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Ethics & Professional Practice, Entrepreneurship, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. This British Computer Society-accredited (BCS) course shares its first two years with the general computer science pathway, and includes an optional professional placement year. The first year introduces fundamental concepts through modules such as Introduction to Programming and Databases, Computer Systems and Low-level Programming, Operating Systems, Networks, Security, and Object Oriented Programming. The second year builds technical competence via Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Team Projects, Mobile Application Development, and Web Systems: Security, Architecture, Development. The final year concentrates on specialist security subjects, featuring compulsory modules like Cyber Security Project, Advanced Networking, Cyber Risk Management, Human Factors and Cyber Security, Digital Forensics, and Applied Cryptography. Students can also tailor their studies by choosing from optional modules spanning Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Cloud Computing, Distributed Systems, Project Management, and Data Mining and Machine Learning.
