About this course

MSci (Hons) in Computer Science and Cyber Security, a computer science and software engineering degree focusing on computational theory, secure systems, and specialized security practices. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Computer Architecture, Research Methods, Project Management, Ethics & Professional Practice, Entrepreneurship, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. This British Computer Society-accredited course includes a placement year option and features dedicated laboratory facilities for robotics, networking, human computer interaction, and imaging technology. The first year establishes fundamental knowledge through Introduction to Programming and Databases, Computer Systems and Low-level Programming, Operating Systems, Networks, Security, and Object Oriented Programming. The second year advances technical capabilities via Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Team Projects, Software Engineering: Practices and Principles, and Web Systems: Security, Architecture, Development. The third year shifts focus towards specialized security domains through compulsory study in Cyber Security Project, Advanced Networking, Cyber Risk Management, Human Factors and Cyber Security, Digital Forensics, and Applied Cryptography, alongside optional modules such as Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Cloud Computing, and Robotics.
