About this course

BSc (Hons) in Construction Engineering Management, a Civil Engineering and BSc (Hons) Building Surveying degree focused on the coordination, delivery, and administration of construction projects. Core topics include Project Management, Legal Analysis, Accounting, Engineering Design, Environmental Analysis, and Ethics & Professional Practice. Students can undertake an optional placement year in industry. The first year covers foundational concepts through Professional Skills, Principles of Law and Economics for the Built Environment, Construction Technology 1, Design and construction practice, Site Surveying and Measurement (CEM), Project Initialisation, and Materials and Structures. The second year progresses to Construction Technology 2, Planning, Estimating and Cost Management, Sustainable Building Design, Construction Project Delivery, Building Services Technology, Professional Practice 2, Collaborative Design Management, and Digital Construction Management - CEM. The final year includes advanced study through Research Dissertation, Integrative Project, Modern Methods of Construction and Conservation, Teamwork and Leadership, Cost Planning and Management, Management Finance, and Pre-construction BIM Coordination. Students can also select from optional modules such as Construction Law and Contract and Digital Design, Construction and Operation - CEM.
