Entry requirements

A level: AAA While no specific subjects are required, we prefer subjects which demonstrate a range of numerical, analytical and discursive abilities. These include: Biology, Business, Classical Civilisation, Chemistry, Economics, English Language/Literature, Geography, History, Languages, Law, Maths/Further Maths, Philosophy, Physics, Politics, Psychology, Religious Studies, and Sociology. In some circumstances we may ask applicants to achieve specific grades in certain subjects. IB: 37 (6,6,6 HL) BTEC: BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma: D*D*D BTEC Level 3 National Diploma: DD plus one A level at Grade A BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate: D plus two A levels at Grades AA If the BTEC is not in Business, then the A level should be in a preferred subject. Preferred BTEC: Business. Other BTEC subjects may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

About this course

BSc (Hons) in Economics, an economics degree exploring economic systems, markets, and financial structures. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, Financial Analysis, Accounting, Marketing, Legal Analysis, Policy Analysis, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Entrepreneurship, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students can choose a four-year full-time route including a placement year or a three-year full-time study option. The first year establishes fundamental concepts through compulsory modules such as Principles of Macroeconomics, Principles of Microeconomics, Quantitative Economics, and Foundations for Economists alongside a choice of optional subjects. The second year advances analytical abilities through compulsory study in Intermediate Macroeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, Introduction to Econometrics, and Sustainable Economic Development and Policy, while offering various optional topics. The final year centres on research and communication skills through compulsory modules such as Research and Communication Skills for Economists, complemented by a wide selection of optional modules covering advanced economic theory, finance, and contemporary policy issues.
