Entry requirements

A level: AAA While no specific subjects are required, we prefer subjects which demonstrate a range of numerical, analytical and discursive abilities. These include: Biology, Business, Classical Civilisation, Chemistry, Economics, English Language/Literature, Geography, History, Languages, Law, Maths/Further Maths, Philosophy, Physics, Politics, Psychology, Religious Studies, and Sociology. In some circumstances we may ask applicants to achieve specific grades in certain subjects. IB: 37 (6,6,6 HL) BTEC: BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma: D*D*D BTEC Level 3 National Diploma: DD plus one A level at Grade A BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate: D plus two A levels at Grades AA If the BTEC is not in Business, then the A level should be in a preferred subject. Preferred BTEC: Business. Other BTEC subjects may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

About this course

BSc (Hons) in Economics and Finance, an economics and accounting and finance degree centred on the study of economic systems, financial markets and quantitative methods. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Financial Analysis, Accounting, Marketing, Legal Analysis, Policy Analysis, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Entrepreneurship, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students can choose to study this course over four years with an integrated placement year or complete it in three years full-time. The first year covers core foundations through compulsory modules such as Principles of Macroeconomics, Principles of Microeconomics, Quantitative Economics, Foundations for Economists, Responsible Management Practice, Data Analysis, and Statistics for Economics, alongside optional choices like Introduction to Accounting and Principles of Law. The second year advances analytical abilities through compulsory study in Intermediate Macroeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, Introduction to Econometrics, Introduction to Financial Economics, and Sustainable Economic Development and Policy, while offering options such as Marketing and Company Law. The final year deepens expertise via compulsory modules including Financial Economics and Asset Pricing, Corporate Finance and Derivatives, and Research and Communication Skills for Economists. Optional modules across various stages allow further exploration in areas such as Applied Econometrics, Behavioural Economics, International Trade, and Project Management.
