About this course

BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, an electrical and electronic engineering degree focused on the study of electricity, analogue and digital electronics, and electromagnetism. Core topics include Programming, Systems Design, Circuit Design, Computer Architecture, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, Microelectronics, Control Systems, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, Accounting, Engineering Design, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. The course is available as a three-year full-time programme or a four-year version incorporating a placement year. The first year covers foundational methods through Core Mathematics, Circuit Analysis, Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering, and Programming and Software Engineering. The second year progresses to Advanced Mathematics, Electronics, Telecommunications Engineering, and Control System Design. In the third year, students undertake an Individual Project and Engineering Systems and Management, alongside optional modules covering topics such as Embedded Software Design and Implementation, State Control Systems, Renewable Energy Systems, Power Electronics, Wireless Communications, Electronic Systems Design, Computer Networks and Security, and Machine Learning for IoT Systems.
