IB: 32 (6,5,5 HL) to include one of the following subjects at HL: English (Literature, Language or both), any Language subject, Geography, History, Philosophy, Global Politics, Psychology, World Religions, Social and Cultural Anthropology. About this course

BA (Hons) in English, an English degree exploring literary history, dramatic forms, and narrative fiction. Core topics include Research Methods, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Global & Comparative Perspective. The course offers a placement year option alongside its standard three-year study route. The first year covers core foundations through Writing in History, Introduction to Drama, Narrative Forms, Analysing Poetry: Metre, Form and Meaning, and Theory Matters. Optional subjects at this stage include creative writing and film. The second year provides a broad selection of period and thematic studies, featuring modules such as Victorian Literature, Love and Life in Stuart-Era Literature (1603-1714), Modernisms, and Screen Cultures. The final year centres on an independent English Dissertation alongside advanced optional topics like Adapting Shakespeare and Global America.
