Entry requirements
A level: ABB including one of the following subjects: English (Literature, Language, or both), any Language subject, Geography, History, Classical Civilisation, Law, Philosophy, Politics, Psychology, Religious Studies or Sociology. IB: 32 (6,5,5 HL) to include one of the following subjects at HL: English (Literature, Language or both), any Language subject, Geography, History, Philosophy, Global Politics, Psychology, World Religions, Social and Cultural Anthropology. BTEC: BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma: DDM plus an A level grade B in a required subject. BTEC Level 3 National Diploma: DD plus one A level in a required subject at Grade B. BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate: D plus two A levels at Grades BB including one required subject. Preferred BTEC: Performing Arts, Art & Design, Digital Film and Video Production, Business IT, Applied Science, Sport, Sport and Exercise Science, Health & Social Care.
About this course
BA (Hons) in English with Business Studies, a Business and Management and English degree combining literature study with commercial and organisational operations. Core topics include Research Methods, Accounting, Marketing, Legal Analysis, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Entrepreneurship, Global & Comparative Perspective. The programme offers a four-year full-time route including a placement year, alongside a standard three-year full-time option. The first year covers foundations through Management and International Business Fundamentals, Writing in History, Narrative Forms, Principles of Law, Management of Human Resources, and Theory Matters, with optional choices such as Elephants and Engines: An Introduction to Creative Writing. Year two develops management and marketing concepts via Organisation Studies, Principles of Marketing, Accounting for Managers, and The Marketing Mix, complemented by options like Victorian Literature. Year three focuses on enterprise and strategy through Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Fundamentals of Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Planning, and Leadership & Interpersonal Skills, with further study available through options such as English Dissertation.
