About this course
BSc (Hons) in Geography, a geography degree spanning both human and physical aspects of the discipline. Core topics include Data Analysis, Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, and Fieldwork. The programme is available as a three-year full-time course or as a four-year option incorporating a placement year, providing a foundation in Year 1 followed by choices to specialise or maintain a balanced focus. The first year covers core subjects through modules such as Academic and Professional Skills for Geography, Unequal Worlds, Earth Systems, and Spatial Data Analysis. The second year progresses with specialised research design and technical training, featuring modules like Physical Geography Research: Design and Practice, Human Geography Research: Design and Practice, Remote Sensing & GIS, and Globalization, alongside optional choices such as Global Migration, Physical Geography Fieldcourse, and Urban Geographies. In the final year, students complete a compulsory Geography Dissertation and select from various optional modules including Glacial Environments and Landscapes, Climate Change: Cooperating with the Future, Globalised Urbanisation, and Conservation: Principles and Practice.
