About this course

BA (Hons) in History and Politics, a politics and history degree centred on historical and modern political roots of contemporary issues. Core topics include Research Methods, Historical Research, Critical & Analytical Thinking, Global & Comparative Perspective. The course is available as a three-year full-time programme or a four-year option incorporating a professional placement year. The first year establishes academic foundations and explores the Atlantic world, historical methods, political systems, and the global Cold War. The second year advances methodologies through specific research and design modules alongside the study of British history in a global context. The final year centres on an independent dissertation enabling extensive investigation into a chosen topic. Optional modules across the degree span subjects such as international political theory, modern Chinese history, political economy, and environmental thought.
