About this course

BA (Hons) in International Relations, a politics and international relations degree centred on political, economic and social challenges in regional and global contexts. Core topics include Research Methods, Historical Research, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Global & Comparative Perspective. The course is offered as a four-year full-time option incorporating a placement year, or as a standard three-year full-time route. The first year covers the foundations through Academic Foundations in International Relations, Politics and History, The Contemporary World Arena, The Global Cold War, International Political Theory, and Politics and Government. The second year focuses on research methodologies through Research Methods in Politics and International Relations and Research Design, alongside optional modules covering areas such as development, security studies, and political thought. Optional modules in the final year allow students to specialise in diverse topics ranging from terrorism and political philosophy to regional politics and environmental thought, complemented by a compulsory Dissertation.
