About this course
BSc (Hons) in Natural Sciences, a natural sciences degree covering multidisciplinary scientific approaches and research across multiple subjects. Core topics include Microelectronics, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Laboratory Techniques, Research Methods, and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. Students can choose from multiple structured pathways combining subjects such as chemistry, bioscience, mathematics, physics, materials, and geography. The course includes the option to complete a professional placement year in industry. During the first year, students study compulsory modules specific to their chosen pathway combination, such as Fundamental Synthetic Chemistry, Core Physics I: Foundations of Physics, Linear Algebra and Geometry 1, Biochemistry and Cell Biology, and Earth Systems. The second year continues with specialized and interdisciplinary content, featuring compulsory modules like Structure and Reactivity 2, Mathematical Methods 3, Core Physics IV: Thermal and Statistical Physics, and Earth Surface Processes and Landforms, alongside various optional choices. In the final year, students undertake an Interdisciplinary Research Project and complete advanced compulsory and optional modules tailored to their pathway, such as Modern Aspects of Organic Chemistry, Probability Theory, Glacial Environments and Landscapes, and Advanced Principles of Materials.
