About this course

BA (Hons) in Politics and International Relations, a politics and international relations degree examining domestic, international, and global challenges. Core topics include Research Methods, Historical Research, Critical & Analytical Thinking, and Global & Comparative Perspective. Students can choose between a three-year full-time path and a four-year full-time path with a placement year. The first year covers the foundations through The Global Cold War, Academic Foundations in International Relations, Politics and History, The Contemporary World Arena, International Political Theory, and The Making and Unmaking of the World Order. The second year focuses on methodological approaches through Research Methods in Politics and International Relations and Research Design, alongside optional modules such as Critical Security Studies, History of Political Thought, and Politics of Development. The final year centres on an independent project through the Dissertation module. Optional modules in the final year allow specialisation in areas such as contemporary political philosophy, terrorism, and international conflict management.
