A level: AAB IB: 35 (6,6,5 HL) BTEC: BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma: DDD BTEC Level 3 National Diploma: DD plus one A level at Grade A BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate: D plus two A levels at Grades AB Preferred BTEC: BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma Applied Science, Business, Health and Social Care, IT, Sport. Other BTEC subjects may be considered when offered in combination with one A level from the following list: Biology, Business, Classical Civilisation, Chemistry, Economics, English Language/Literature, Geography, History, Languages, Law, Maths/Further Maths, Philosophy, Physics, Politics, Psychology, Religious Studies, and Sociology.
About this course
BA (Hons) in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, an economics and politics and international relations and philosophy degree examining social and political structures through multi-disciplinary perspectives. Core topics include Research Methods, Policy Analysis, and Critical & Analytical Thinking. The programme is delivered jointly across the Department of International Relations, Politics and History and the Loughborough Business School, with options for a placement year. The first year covers core subjects through Introduction to Macroeconomics, Introduction to Microeconomics, Introduction to Philosophy, and Politics and Government. In the second year, students build methodological skills through modules such as Contemporary Debates in Philosophy, Research Methods in Politics and International Relations, and Research Design. Optional modules in the second and final years allow specialisation in areas spanning economics, philosophy, and politics, including options like Financial Economics, Feminist Philosophy, and History of Economic Thought. The course concludes with a compulsory independent Dissertation project in the final year.
