About this course
BEng (Hons) in Product Design Engineering, a robotics engineering degree exploring the intersection of creative design and technical mechanics. Core topics include Programming, Statistics, Project Management, Engineering Design, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Design & Creative Practice. Students can choose between a three-year full-time study path or a four-year option incorporating a professional placement year. The first year establishes core competencies through Mathematics for Product Design Engineering, Applied Engineering, Engineering Science, Product Design Methods, Integrated Product Design, and Materials and Manufacturing Processes. The second year advances technical capability via Energy Demand & Engineering Science, Engineering Modelling and Software, Machine Design: From Concept to Control, Manufacturing Processes and Digital Production Technologies, Application of Product Design, and Human Measurement and Experimental Design. In the final year, students complete an Individual Project alongside Engineering Systems and Management, and can tailor their studies through optional modules covering topics such as Organisation Structure and Strategy, Sustainable Product Lifecycle Engineering, Computer Aided Engineering, Product Innovation Management, Metrology, Additive for Healthcare and Innovation, Machine Learning and AI for Engineering, Horizon Technologies for Sport and Health, Material Performance and Failure, Laser and Energy-Assisted Manufacturing Processes, Manufacturing Automation and Control, and Design Methods and Communication.
