About this course

BEng (Hons) in Sports Technology, a sport and exercise science and robotics engineering degree focused on the design, manufacture and testing of sports equipment, clothing and footwear. Core topics include Programming, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, Engineering Design, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Design & Creative Practice. Based at the dedicated Sports Technology Institute, the curriculum bridges engineering science, measurement, analysis, and sports science to connect sporting equipment performance with core product design principles. The first year covers foundational concepts through compulsory modules such as Engineering Mathematics, Introduction to Sport Biomechanics and Kinesiology, Applied Engineering, and Materials and Manufacturing Processes. The second year progresses with subjects like Biomechanics of Sport, Engineering Computation, Applied Sports Technology, and Sports Goods Design, Manufacture and Test. The third year involves advanced study and project work through modules including Engineering Systems and Management, Individual Project, and Sports Goods Industry and Innovation. Students can further tailor their studies by selecting from optional modules such as Advanced Sport Biomechanics, Organisation Structure and Strategy, Sustainable Product Lifecycle Engineering, Computer Aided Engineering, Additive for Healthcare and Innovation, Machine Learning and AI for Engineering, and Horizon Technologies for Sport and Health.
