About this course

MEng (Hons) in Sports Technology, a sport and exercise science and robotics engineering degree combining engineering science, measurement, and sports science. Core topics include Programming, Data Analysis, Statistics, Mathematical Modelling, Project Management, Engineering Design, Ethics & Professional Practice, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Design & Creative Practice. The curriculum is delivered within a dedicated Sports Technology Institute and provides pathways meeting educational requirements for professional registration as a Chartered Engineer. The first year builds foundational capabilities through compulsory modules such as Engineering Mathematics, Introduction to Sport Biomechanics and Kinesiology, Applied Engineering, Product Design Methods, Materials and Manufacturing Processes, and Measurement and Mechanical Design for Sport. The second year advances into specialized study with Biomechanics of Sport, Engineering Computation, Applied Sports Technology, Sports Goods Design, Manufacture and Test, Human Measurement and Experimental Design, and Application of Product Design in Sports. Year three incorporates core studies in Engineering Systems and Management, Individual Project, and Sports Goods Industry and Innovation, alongside optional modules covering Advanced Sport Biomechanics, Organisation Structure and Strategy, Sustainable Product Lifecycle Engineering, Computer Aided Engineering, Additive for Healthcare and Innovation, Machine Learning and AI for Engineering, and Horizon Technologies for Sport and Health. Final-year options allow deeper focus through Engineering Research Challenge Team Project, Industry Based Engineering Team Project, Robotic Applications in Sport and Healthcare, Sustainable Product Design, Measurement and Data Analytics in Sports Engineering, Consultancy and Professional Practice, Polymer Engineering Design, Processing and Manufacture, Product Design Engineering in Sport, Sports Equipment Engineering, Systems Ergonomics for Product Design, Additive Manufacturing and Reverse Engineering, and Industrial Machine Vision with AI.
