About this course
BSc in Language, Culture and Society, a sociology and modern languages degree centred on the intersection of language study and sociological inquiry. Core topics include Social & Cultural Analysis. Students spend a year abroad at one of the partner institutions. The first year covers foundational ideas through Key Concepts: Introduction to Social Theory and Power, Inequality, and Difference: Contemporary Themes in Sociology, alongside language options in French, German, Mandarin, Russian and Spanish. The second year advances theoretical understanding with Key Concepts: Advanced Social Theory and continues language acquisition alongside sociology options. The final year concludes with advanced language study and further sociology choices from a range of optional units.
