About this course

BA in History and Economics, an economics and history degree combining analytical methods and historical analysis. Core topics include Historical Research. The first year establishes foundational knowledge through Introductory Economics, European and World History, Approaches to History; Historiography: Tacitus to Weber; Foreign Texts, and Industrialization in Britain and France 1750-1870. The first year covers core economic principles and historical methods, featuring compulsory work in Introductory Economics alongside a selection of history papers. Students examine microeconomics, macroeconomics, and statistical methods through economics papers shared with related programmes. Historical studies introduce methodological approaches through historiography and source work. Further options in subsequent years allow specialisation in either economics or history according to individual academic interests.
