About this course
BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, a philosophy, politics and international relations and economics degree examining fundamental social and economic systems. Core topics include Statistics. Students may choose to specialise in two branches at the end of the first year or continue studying all three disciplines. The first year covers the foundations through General philosophy, Moral philosophy, Elementary logic, and Microeconomics: the functioning of the market economy. Students also study The theory of politics (introductory political theory), The practice of politics (introductory comparative government and politics), Political analysis (introductory empirical and quantitative methods), Macroeconomics: dealing with national output and employment, exchange rates and policy issues, and Mathematical and statistical techniques used in economics.
