Entry requirements
GCSE: All applicants must have GCSE (or equivalent) mathematics and English at grade 4/C or above. A level: 120 points from a minimum of 2 A levels including one science subject (see subject list below) We accept the following A level subjects: Biology/Human Biology, Maths/Use of Maths/Further Maths, Statistics, Physics, Electronics, Chemistry, Environmental Science/Studies, Applied Science, Geography, Geology, Design and Technology, Psychology, Computer Science/Computer Programming, Information Technology/Information and Communication Technology. 18 Unit BTEC National Diploma/QCF Extended Diploma: DDM – science related subject. You are encouraged to contact admissions@plymouth.ac.uk if you do not meet this criteria. BTEC National Diploma modules: If you hold a BTEC qualification it is vital that you provide our Admissions team with details of the exact modules you have studied as part of the BTEC. Without this information we may be unable to process your application quickly and you could experience significant delays in the progress of your application to study with us. Please explicitly state the full list of modules within your qualification at the time of application. All Access courses: Pass a Science Access to Higher Education Diploma with 45 credits, including 30 Level 3 credits at Distinction and 15 credits Level 3 credits at Merit from science units. T level: Merit overall from any science pathway. International Baccalaureate: 28 points overall to include 5 at HL in one science related subject.
About this course
MGeol (Hons) in Earth and Environmental Sciences, combining fieldwork-based study with laboratory analysis. Core topics include Data Analysis, Research Methods, Fieldwork, and Ethics & Professional Practice. The programme offers an optional industry placement year and concludes with an independent research project.
